京都 KYOTO: Tofu restaurant Ume no Hana

my favorite Japanese restaurant :)
All tables of this restaurant are small Japanese style parlors. The dishes are very tasty and beautiful. You will feel that the price is a little expensive, but I believe it is worthy more than the price (after the meal, maybe you will agree me).

An okonomiyaki is a Japanese pancake that roughly translates to “what you like” (okonomi)and “grilled” or “cooked”(yaki). As such, it can contain a variety of seafood, meat, and different vegetables and cooked in a teppanor hot plate. In the Gion restaurant, the okonomiyaki it serves is called Issen Yoshoku (which is also the name of the restaurant)—yoshoku for ‘Western food’ (Western because the batter used is made of wheat flour) and sen because it used to cost about 1 US cent.

Monday Bento by I Love Egg on Flickr.
Monday Bento
I was in the mood for a good lunch for the next day!
Main meal is unfrozen leftover chicken from a fajita batch I had made a while ago.
The Spinach Omelet things were courtesy of what I saw many others on Flickr making– thanks!
What I basically did to make them was beat an egg with a tbs or so of extra water added to the mixture, waited for the pan to get steaming hot with just enough oil on top, and poured in the mixture, moving the pan so the entire bottom was coated in egg. I then microwaved some frozen spinach to defrost it and sprinkled it accordingly over the egg. As soon as the top of the egg was cooked I took it off from the heat and placed it on a sushi mat covered in wax paper and rolled it up, taking care to squeeze out any excess liquid. After leavingi t to rest for a minute or so, I cut the roll up and microwaved the individual pieces on a plate so as to prevent leaks in the bento from the spinach.
Notes for the next bento:
-Bean salad was rather smelly despite the fact I covered each thing in the box with its own separate piece of wax paper.
-Hot dog flavour seeped into the almonds
-Dried bananas didn’t taste right.
UPDATE: If I was to redo this bento I’d stick everything in the night before apart from the dried bananas, dried apricot, almonds, and bean salad. Instead, I’d l
